follow in their footsteps

Students, healthcare workers, farmers and entrepreneurs in Malawi walk an average of 8 KM a day to get to work or school. That’s about 10,000 steps! If they walked that distance every day, they’d be taking around 300,000 steps a month! That’s a lot of steps!

This year, citizenMovement is challenging our citizens around the world to follow in their footsteps. Take on the challenge and count your steps. Can you complete 300,000 steps or more during the month of September? How you reach your goal is up to you – biking, walking, running, roller skating, line dancing…

impact

All funds raised from our events are destined for our long term charity partner, World Bicycle Relief (WBR). Together, we keep focused on the goal: to shorten the distance between people and opportunities by giving them the gift of mobility.

This year, our focus will be on supporting WBR's Mobilized Communities model which drives sustainable bicycle use through community-led programming to improve rural access to health, education, conservation, and livelihoods.

W
ith widespread access to reliable transportation, individuals within these communities can begin to lift themselves out of poverty by increasing productivity, income and access to education and healthcare. Women and girls, in particular, whose empowerment is essential for community wellbeing, are prioritized under the Mobilized Communities model.
